Baby Western Painted Turtle peeking over their nursery tub.

Baby Turtles returned back to the water just in time for Winter

A local landscaping company accidentally dug up a nest of baby western painted turtles hibernating on a nearby job location. Sometimes turtle hatches occur late enough in the season that they have to hibernate right away. The rescuers brought the babies in, and since they were all healthy, the turtles acclimated to our care very well. After a brief stay and warm temperatures the past couple of weeks, We were able to release them to a nearby lake where the temperatures were perfect for the little ones to thrive and make it to the water.
