Our nature-based wildlife education programs are designed for all ages and interest groups. Programs can be scheduled for any length of time, but are generally designed to be 45-60 minutes in length. Programs can be scheduled year-round at Northwoods Wildlife Center, at your school, school forest, lake association meeting, library, etc. See below for a list of program offerings. Educational programs can be created or changed to best fit your organization’s needs.

Wildlife Education Favorites

Birds of Prey
Through our birds of prey educational program, you will learn about the unique and beautiful adaptations that help these fantastic birds hunt and survive. Our educators usually bring Tommi, an extraordinary and gorgeous Red-Tailed Hawk.
On our education tour, you will see Peregrine Falcons, Great Horned Owls, Goshawks, Red Tailed Hawks, and Great Horned Owls. You will also get to see a full-sized bald eagle nest, test your grip against some of the strongest grips in the animal kingdom and learn all sorts of great things about birds of prey.

Turtles of Wisconsin
Turtles maybe slow, but they aren’t boring.
Learn the ins and outs of turtles and their many adaptations that make them so unique! Hold real turtle shells, and meet a couple of our resident turtles up close and personal!
The Northwoods Wildlife Center is home to snapping turtles, painted turtles, box turtles, a Florida soft shell turtle, painted turtles as well as everyone’s favorite wood turtle, Woody!

Stories from the Front Lines of Wildlife Education
The birds and animals we rescue and rehabilitate often have interesting stories that help us understand how our actions and decisions affect their lives. Using actual video and photography of Northwoods Wildlife Center rehabbers treating and caring for sick, injured, and orphaned animals, learn how you can help them and be a wildlife hero!
